When Instagram Bans You
Well gurls, it was inevitable. At 42k followers, Instagram banned my account. No warning, nothing, immediate and no right to appeal.
I will start a new account of course.
What is worrysome for us all is the power big tech has to shut anyone down for vague and clearly, right wing puritanical reasons. I had made sure that my most recent account way pretty vanilla this time around, but alas, that was not enough.
I don’t want to sound alarmist, but I can only see this getting worse.
It’s clear to me that human moderation is now being replaced by AI moderation as that can be done way cheaper and at much greater scale. Right now, it’s easy to go after people like me, they can easily argue that I breached their very vague guidelines.
But it’s a slippery slope.
And we all know this poem… ‘First they came for the Communists…’ If you don’t, it’s HERE.
So what to do?
Connect with people directly.
If your connection is via a platform, be it TikTok, FB, Insta, LinkedIn, know that you, or they, can be shut down without warning. If you have an email address for that person, you have a much better chance of keeping the connection alive.
Again, I don’t want to sound hysterical, but the conservative right is growing, and this will impact us all.
Watch this space as I will post my new Instagram handle soon.
Stay strong, brave and sexy my lovely gurlies!

I live for all things feminine—stockings, heels, scarlet nails, and above all, the intoxicating touch of another woman. A translesbian muse and unapologetic hedonist, I share my most divine and wicked misadventures in words and now as a podcaster too. All gurls welcome. You are gorgeous. Just like me. xxx

My account is going that way too, unfortunately. I’ve been more active, which means I’m being noticed more. I’m shadowbanned right now, and they write that my account promotes sexual activity. It’s bullshit. There are people doing promotional videos for tentacle dildos, but I promote literature, and that’s a problem. So much for free speech…
It’s a really sad state of affairs, pointless and censorial. It really does feel like staggering double standards and like marginalised voices are being erased. I am sorry you are going through this too.
