Meet Hannah: The Face of My Books

If I was going to have an ethical dilemma in this line of work, I was sure it would come from the material. As it happens, it comes from the writing. Kinda.

As you may know, I have interviewed over thirty erotica writers who write stories in the spectrum of trans spicy space. You can read those interviews here.  I have always been on the lookout for new writers or people I may have missed. And recently I have seen quite a few prolific authors appear. And not just prolific, but authoring books that are hundreds of pages long.

I have now downloaded several of their books, converted a couple of pages to text and uploaded to AI checkers – and hey presto, they are all 100% AI generated.

What is more worrying is the amount of five star reviews these volumes have received, and often in double digits, occasionally triple digits.

I am no AI purist. Like so many other authors, I use AI to help create cover art, do mundane tasks, analyse data, even create blurbs which I hate writing.

But the line in the sand for me is the actual writing.

It’s simply too personal. The act of writing is the joy for me. The act of others reading it and sending me messages is the icing on the cake. Neither of those two experiences would mean anything if I was AI generating my books.

What to do? Well I hope Amazon takes some action soon, to at the very least indicate when a book is AI written. Though how long it will be before even other AI systems cannot spot AI text is anyone’s guess.

I will continue to use AI to create imagery as I can’t afford to hire a photographer and model and stock photos are, for me at least, getting tired. I will use AI to innovate, like the animated book cover on this page, created using Kling. Or the header image on this post. The portrait of Hannah made with MidJourney, then the image expanded using Adobe Photoshop Expand. 

But hell, it’s time to hang up my shiny red platform heels the day I decide to have Claude write my next story. This gurl is gonna stay 100% human, real, and filthy for you.
